CubaIncoming Mail1840, July 28. Sip's register envelope (part of two side flaps missing on back) of the Frasquita" brigantine sailing from Santander (Spain) to Santiago de Cuba, bearing three-line fancy "Franco/en/Santander" and circle "Aduana de Santander" handstamps in blue, the latter repeated on reverse as seal, alongside showing "17" & "Rs" representing the postage paid on departure, and dated delivery notation with signature. Ink erosions at left and two vertical folds in no way detracting. One of just six ship's register covers known which crossed the Atlantic in the period comprised between 1818 and the date of introduction of postage stamps in Spain.
