CubaIncoming Mail1840, July 14. Ship's register cover belonging to the "Veloz" brigantine which sailed from Cádiz (Spain) to Santiago de Cuba, boldly handstamped with "Se Franqueó/En Cadiz." two-line postmark in red, with signature for control on dispatch which has caused ink erosions in centre, annotated "pagó 60rs." denoting the prepayment of postage and signed docket of delivery. Small portions of paper and part of the red wax seal lacking on back. Only six ship's register covers, carried across the Atlantic, are recorded in 1818-1849.
