1876, Oct. 13. Envelope (roughly opened at top and closed tear with traces of tape removed) from Callao to Brunoy (France) carried through the British P.O. at Callao, franked with diagonally bisected 20 c. brown paying the domestic postage, tied by blue cork with cds of Callao at right, alongside with ''T/1-70'' debit handstamp for 30 grs. indicating amount due to G.B. and used on mail coming from some British post offices in South America, Panama three-line transit and ''23'' decimes due marking on delivery. London and arrival backstamps. The bisecttation of this value was officially accepted from 9.12.1876 to 1.11.1876. A very scarce and delightful franking on transatlantic mail. Scott 18a.
