Sierra Leone Shaingay 1896 (27 Mar.) 1d. red card to Michigan, U.S.A., cancelled with fine "shaingay/sierra leone" c.d.s. and with a further fine strike at lower left partially overstruck by Paid Liverpool Br. Packet c.d.s. (25.4), Freetown c.d.s. (31.3) and New York Paid All duplex (7.5) at top. A very rare cancellation. Photo Estimate £ 2,000-2,500 Note: Shaingay Post Office was destroyed in the 1898 rising. It was reopened as Shengay in 1901
