Sierra Leone Shaingay 1888 (6 Aug.) envelope to U.S.A., showing superb "shingay mission/sherbro." double-oval d.s. in violet and bearing 1884-91 2d. grey (2) sharing two legible strikes of the "post office/shaingay/sierra leone" oval-framed handstamp in red, the reverse with Freetown (9.8), London (30.8), New York Paid All (9.9) and Cedar Rapids (10.9) d.s.; the envelope with tears at right, clear of the adhesives, and other lesser faults, nevertheless believed to be the sole cover with the oval handstamp recorded from this office.
