Gold Coast Cape Coast Castle 1884 (18 Mar.) unstamped envelope registered to London, showing "paid at cape coast castle" double-ring d.s. (Type F) in red, "R" in oval h.s. in red, rate computations in red crayon and Liverpool Registered oval d.s. (16.4), upon arrival redirected within London with addition of 1883 3d. on 3d. lilac cancelled with "registered/w.d.o." oval d.s. (16.4) and also showing other registered d.s. and Warwick Road c.d.s., two further London d.s. on reverse; a few small faults though full of character and rare scare used a stamp shortage period. Photo Estimate £ 350-400 Note: The "Paid At Cape Coast Castle" c.d.s. was used as a frank in March and April 1884 during a shortage of stamps
