TRINIDAD 1863-72 Britannia Issue, Watermark Crown CC, Perf. 12 1/2 Covers 1868 (8 Apr.) small envelope to Duxbury, Mass., U.S.A., bearing (1d.) rose (perfs. trimmed off on two sides) and 4d. bright violet affixed at opposite top corners and each cancelled "1", showing red crayon "7", "trinidad/paid" c.d.s., London Paid c.d.s. (28.4), New York Paid All c.d.s. (date unclear) and "3/cents" rate h.s., all in red and partially overlapping. A scarce and most attractive routing error franking made up of the 4d. British Inter-Colonial ship rate plus 1d. inland postage. Photo Estimate £ 500-600 Note: The normal route for this letter would have been Trinidad-St. Thomas-Bermuda,-Halifax-New York-Duxbury. The envelope was miss-sorted in St. Thomas to Liverpool and London, then correctly sent on to New York provenance: Ben Ramkisssoon, 2006
