India The Second Sikh War, 1848-49 1849 (29 Mar.) entire letter "From 1528 Corpl. Cutht. Jackson H.M. 61st. Regt." at Camp Jamrood to England, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing oval-framed "india" and "2" charge h.s., the reverse with London (31.5) and Durham (1.6) c.d.s.; interesting contents re the writer´s letters from his mother not being delivered and probably robbed, a forty-one day march from Gudgerat to Camp Jamrood having travelled with the Treasurer and 32 camel loads of rupees, and a dangerous crossing of the Indus and Jellum rivers.
