India 1786 (16 Feb.) entire letter from Private W. Hopkin, 6th. Company, 4th. Regiment, Madras European Infantry, from Madras Hospital, Fort. St. George, Madras to England, rated "1" (deleted) and "5" (ship Captain´s gratuity of 1d. and 4d. inland postage) alongside manuscript "all" and with a fair strike of the "london ship-lre" h.s. (S.3) and with Bishopmark on reverse; the contents include "Having an oppertunity by a Brother Soldier belonging to the 78th. Regiment who is Returning to Europe, and has promised to take great care of this letter which I make no doubt he will, I thought it my duty to embrace it...". June 1786
