Afghanistan 2nd. Afghan War, 1878-81 1880 (24 June) envelope "From 1583 Le Sergt. W. Cameron 72nd. Highers" at Butkak to Scotland, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and bearing 8p. mauve and 1a. brown each cancelled "L" in circle of bars, the reverse with "butkak", Bombay (2.7) and three Scottish (24-26.7) c.d.s.; a few small imperfections though very rare, being one of only two soldiers covers known from Butkak during the campaign.
