Burma 1824 (26 May) "Soldiers Letter from Gunr S Bonner 8/3 Artillery (Rangoon)" to London, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing a good strike of the "india soldiers/3/london" circular h.s. (In. Sol. 4), the reverse with Calcutta General Post Office (5.7) and London (11.3) c.d.s.; the cover with small fault at foot, otherwise fine and the earliest known soldiers letter from Burma graphically describing the capture of Rangoon during the 1st. Burmese War. Photo Estimate £ 1,200-1,400 Note: The war on Burma was declared on 5 March 1824 after the Burmese invaded and conquered Assam and Manipur, and captured a part of seepoys on Indian territory. An overseas expedition was raised in Bengal and Madras against Rangoon. Rangoon was entered on 12 May
