D.C.L.I.), extremely fine, with named lid of original campaign medal box of issue Estimate £ 180-220 10298 Private Joseph Arthur West, born Newington, London; served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion Duke of Cornwall´´s Light Infantry on the Western Front from 21.8.1914; he was killed in action 4.10.1917; on the latter date the 1st Battalion were in action during the Third battle of Ypres, suffering 106 other ranks killed; West is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
