W.Rid.R.); British War and Victory Medals (3.10463 Pte. B. McGovern. W. Rid. R.), good very fine, with Cap Badge Estimate £ 180-220 3/10463 Private Bernard William McGovern, born Bradford, Yorkshire; served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion West Riding Regiment on the Western Front from 14.8.1914; he was killed in action 8.9.1915; the Battalion War Diary for the latter date gives, ´´First line trenches North of Carnoy, continuous shelling 2 other ranks killed´´; McGovern is buried in the Carnoy Miltary Cemetery.
