A Great War Group of Three to Gunner W.H. Barrett, Royal Artillery, Killed in Action, 21.9.1916 1914 Star, with Bar (3924 Gnr: W.H. Barrett. R.F.A.); British War and Victory Medals (3924 Gnr. W.H. Barrett. R.A.), nearly extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´William Henry Barrett´, in card box of issue Estimate £ 200-250 3924 Gunner William H. Barrett (surname formerly ´´Johnson´´, but changed by Statutory Declaration during War service), born 1884; served during the Great War with the 2nd DAC Royal Field Artillery in the French Theatre of War from 16.8.1914; he was serving with "B" Battery 106th Brigade when he was killed in action 21.9.1916; between 17th -21st September 1916 the battery had been in action on the Somme, on the 21st they were deployed to cut barbed wire at Horn Ravine, Maltz, in preparation for the assault on the Quadrilateral; Barrett is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme.
