Unknown Medallist (Florence, late 15 early 16th century) Giovanni Boccaccio, a bronze portrait, a large fragment approx. 63mm. across, formed into a medal approx. 89mm. diam. by the addition of gesso, the bronze section with dark grey-green patination, the gesso coloured to match, a hole drilled in the centre of reverse Obverse; head of Boccacco to right, wearing a cappuccio.
