Unknown Medallist (c.1460-1470) Mohammed II, uniface lead portrait medal, 92mm., a very fine old cast, pierced at 12 o´clock, rare Obverse: bust of the Sultan in profile to left, with beard and moustache, wearing soft hat with feather held by a decorated clasp, and decorated caftan with four buttons at front, MAGNVS PRINCEPS ET MAGNVS AMIRAS SVLTANVS DNS MEHOMET Reverse: blank Mohammed II (1432-1481), the conqueror of Constantinople, was depicted on a number of medals.
