In the style of the Mantuan School (manner of Antico) Giulia Astalia,oval bronze plaquette, 63.3mm. x 46mm., a later cast, after the portrait on the medal in the manner of Antico, with rich light brown patina, pierced at 12 o´clock Obverse: half-length bust of a young girl in profile to left, her hair braided and loosely tied up and held by two bands, wearing a plain dress Obverse: blank Based on the enigmatic portrait medal with the legend DIVA IVLIA ASTALLIA in the manner of Antico. The girl has been identified with Giulia of Gazzuolo, the heroine of Bandello´s Novella I, 8.
