A Great War 1918 French Theatre D.C.M. to Sergeant J.Tate, Machine Gun Corps, Late Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and Entitled to a Military Medal Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (19171 Sjt: J. Tate. M.M. 19/M.G.C.), acid cleaned, minor edge bruise, therefore nearly very fine Estimate £ 500-550 D.C.M. London Gazette 30.10.1918 19171 Sjt. J. Tate, M.M., M.G. Corps (Bradford) ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. He kept his gun firing under heavy shell and machine gun fire, inflicting very severe casualties on the advancing enemy, After covering the withdrawal of the infantry he led his team back; he then went back through a hail of bullets to fetch his tripod which had been left behind, and at once got his gun into action again.
