Beavis. 6/M.G.C.); British War and Victory Medals (55943 Sjt. E. Beavis M.G.C.), extremely fine (3) Estimate £ 900-1,100 D.C.M. London Gazette 2.12.1919 55943 Sjt. E. Beavis, 6th Bn., M.G. Corps (Largs, Ayrshire) ´During the operations at Ramicourt on 7th October 1918, whilst in charge of a machine-gun section, he showed great courage and initiative in bringing his gun into action under very heavy shell and machine gun fire. He brought direct overhead fire to bear on the enemy, causing them many casualties and assisting our infantry to advance. The example set by him was inspiring to all under the trying circumstances.´ 55943 Sergeant E. Beavis, D.C.M., served with the 6th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps.
