Marlow, Machine Gun Corps (Motors), Who Served With 7 Light Armoured Motor Battery in France, East Africa (Wounded), and Mesopotamia Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (69107 Gnr: H. Marlow. M.G.C.- Motors.); British War and Victory Medals (69107 Gnr. H. Marlow. M.G.C.), nearly extremely fine, and a scarce award to Machine Gun Corps Motors (3) Estimate £ 1,200-1,400 D.C.M. London Gazette 3.10.1918 69107 Gnr. H. Marlow, M.M.G. Corps (Alton). ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty and great steadiness and pluck in action, especially during an attack on a cavalry camp.´ 69107 Gunner Harry Marlow, D.C.M., born Alton, Hampshire, 1885; attested for General Service, 11.12.1915; mobilized and posted 3rd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment, 20.12.1916; transferred Machine Gun Corps, 28.12.1916, and served with 7 Light Armoured Motor Battery in France, 2.5-25.9.1917; East Africa, 26.9-24.12.1917 (wounded by gun shot to chest, 21.10.1917); and Mesopotamia, via India, 1.2-11.11.1918; whilst in Mesopotamia No. 7 Battery served in Light Armoured Motor Brigade with eight Rolls Royce cars; took over nine Austin Armoured Cars from "A" Squadron Dunsterforce, November 1918, as well as two cars converted to run on railways. Gunner Marlow was demobilized, 1.5.1919. One of only 44 D.C.M.s to MGC Motors.
