Regt.), good very fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque ´James Phillips´, and letter of notification of recipient´s death and place of burial, dated 4.12.1915, and a photographic image of recipient (4) Estimate £ 140-170 8602 Private James R. Phillips, born St. Paul´s, Cheltenham; educated at Holy Trinity School; initially enlisted as No. 23137 in the Hussars before transferring to the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment; served during the Great War with the regiment in the French Theatre of War from, early October 1915 and ´was wounded whilst in the line near Arras and taken to Clearing Station No 4 at Beauval where he died on the 27th. He is buried in Beauval Cemetery.´ (Leaving All That Was Dear, refers).
