A Scarce 1918 First Day ´Amiens´ Casualty Group of Three to Sergeant G.L. Cannock, North Somerset Yeomanry and 6th Inniskilling Dragoons 1914-15 Star (924 Pte. G.L. Cannock. N. Som. Yeo.); British War and Victory Medals (924 Sjt. G.L. Cannock. N. Som. Yeo.), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque ´George Lumbard Cannock´ (3) Estimate £ 240-280 Sergeant George Lumbard Cannock, native of Cheltenham; initially served with the North Somerset Yeomanry before service as no. 165298 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, ´After serving three years in France, Sergeant Cannock was killed on the first day of the battle of Amiens [8.8.1918], the so called "black day for the German Army" marking the first of the 100 days during which the Germans were retreating back across France and Belgium, ending in the armistice on the 11th November. He is buried at Le Quesnel Communal Cemetery..... and is commemorated on the grave of his parents in St. Lawrence´s Churchyard, Swindon Village.
