A Great War ´Somme 1916´ Casualty Pair to Guardsman S. Russell, Welsh Guards British War and Victory Medals (2572 Pte. S. Russell. W. Gds.), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´Stanley Russell´, in card envelope of issue, Great War Parchment Memorial Scroll, Regimental Cap Badge and two Shoulder Titles, portrait photograph, Memorial Service Card, and copy of service papers (lot) Estimate £ 500-600 2572 Guardsman Stanley Russell, born Bath, Somerset; joined Army Reserve 24.11.1915; mobilized and posted Welsh Guards 8.2.1916; served during the Great War with the Regiment in the French Theatre of War, 25.9-19.11.1916; Russell was killed in action on the latter date after the 1st Battalion had moved from Montauban, (14.11.1916) to the front line of the Somme, due east of Gueudecourt; he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
