A Great War ´Advance on Bavai and Mauberge 1918´ Casualty Pair to Guardsman J.C. Hoggarth, Welsh Guards British War and Victory Medals (3096 Pte. J.C. Hoggarth. W. Gds.), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´John Charles Hoggarth´, two photographic images of recipient, and copy of service papers (lot) Estimate £ 450-500 3096 Guardsman John Charles Hoggarth, born Blackburn Lancashire; joined Army Reserve 10.12.1915; mobilized and posted Welsh Guards, 21.9.1916; served during the Great War with the regiment in the French Theatre of War, 14.3.1917-20.12.1917 and 11.10.1918-6.11.1918; Hoggarth was killed in action on the latter date, during the final advance towards Bavai and Mauberge, this was the Welsh Guards´ last action of the War, they suffered 94 casualties. Mauberge was taken the day before the Armistice was announced. Hoggarth is buried at Bermeries Communal Cemetery, near Bavai, France.
