Military General Service 1793-1814, one clasp, Egypt (T. Dillon, Ensn. 2nd. Foot.), edge bruising, otherwise very fine Estimate £ 1,400-1,600 Major Timothy Dillon entered the 2nd Foot as an Ensign by purchase December 1798; served during the Irish Rebellion of 1798; expedition to the Helder 1799 and was present at the battles of 19 September and 2 and 6 October; advanced to Lieutenant December 1800; served in Egypt 1801 and was present in action on immediate landing, blockade of Aboukir, actions of 13 and 21 March, bombardment and surrender of Fort St. Julien, the taking of Rahmanieh together with about 800 French troops coming to its relief, and the surrender of Grand Cairo and of Alexandria; placed on half-pay of his Regiment 1802; appointed to the 48th Regiment October 1806, was present with the 76th Foot in Sir John Moore´s campaign, including the retreat to Corunna; Captain May 1813, 49th Regiment; 2nd Veteran Battalion August 1820-21 and placed on full retired pay; re-appointed December 1826; Major November 1854; Major Dillon died at Summer Cove, Kinsale 31.7.1856.
