x United States of America St. Louis Bear Postmaster Provisionals 1845 5c. black on pelure and 5c. black on greenish, four singles of the former, each type 1, position 1, and an example of the latter, type III, position 5, each placed sideways along the top of 1847 (17 July) double rate entire letter to Washington, D.C. with a 5c. overpayment, all without the usual pen cancel and tied by unframed "paid" h.s. in red and showing "st louis mo" c.d.s. for 19th July; most of the stamps have been repaired and the cover has been pressed.
