United States of America 1777 (25 Nov.) long entire letter from George Bond at "Pearl Delaware River" to his parents at Plymouth, rated "4" and showing, on reverse, Bishopmark and circular-framed "M" receiver´s handstamp; the contents include "We have cleared the river and have a passage to Philadelphia but t´was not done without much trouble and loss on both sides particularly that of the rebels......the loss of the rebels on Mud Fort was about 250.......they say we shall winter in Philadelphia".
