Crime and Punishment Punishment Transportation 1799 (2 Feb.) entire letter from John Rowe (probably the captain) on board H.M.S. Sloop ´Trinkamaley´ in Bombay Harbour, addressed to Captain John Duckworth of H.M.S. Leviathan at Plymouth Dock, the content refers to prize money from the ´Saldanha´; short filing note on address panel; fine and attractive. The history of the ´Leviathan´ is fascinating – commissioned in 1793 she saw service in the West Indies, then the Mediterranean with Lord St. Vincent, in 1799 Duckworth commanded her in support of Nelson at Palermo and Trafalgar, she ended her days as a prison hulk before being broken up in 1848.
