Crime and Punishment Crimes Rape 1885 (4 Sept.) entire letter (the interior with printed heading of ´H.M. Goal, Pentridge´) from Charles Hansen, a 23 year old Swedish seaman convicted of raping a young woman in Melbourne, addressed to a prison visitor named Dr. Singleton in East Melbourne, bearing Victoria 1/2d. strip of four tied by ´67´ numeral cancellations with corresponding Coburg c.d.s. at lower-left; Also 1826 letter insert written by a Judge ordering a stay of execution on a man, who he himself had sentenced to death for rape, after grave suspicions were raised as to the motives of his accuser .
