Crime and Punishment Crimes Resisting Arrest 1881 (13 Sept.) letter enclosure headed ´Whitehall´ and showing uncoloured embossed seal of the Secretary of State for the Home Department, the letter gives permission for a visit to ´Thomas Lloyd in Pentonville Prison´ - Lloyd was tried at Hereford Assizes in December 1875 for using a firearm to resist arrest, found guilty and sentenced to fifteen years in gaol. Accompanied by a photocopy of Lloyd´s portrait and an original printed prospectus dated 1812 for the ´London Female Penitentiary, Pentonville´ with engraved plates showing proposed building improvements Estimate £ 180-220
