Banque de Syrie, Syria, specimen 500 Piastres, Beyrouth, 1st August 1919,
With a vivid multicoloured palette and design elements such as the head of a lion from the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbeck, which define this series, the 500 Piastres note features a striking design. The focal point of the note is a stunning representation of Lebanon’s famous cedar trees, which dominate the right side. These towering trees, also featured on the Lebanese flag, not only highlight the region’s natural beauty but also serve as a timeless symbol of Lebanon's heritage and historical significance.

Although the note bears the name Banque de Syrie, the prominent Lebanese motif reminds us that it was created for circulation in both Syria and Lebanon, as indicated by the issuing city, Beyrouth. The reverse side mirrors the 100 Piastres note, showcasing a dynamic cityscape of Beirut’s port and skyline.
