ST. VINCENT Early Letters and Handstamps 1795 (25 Dec.) entire letter to Scotland, marked "Fort Charlotte Island of St. Vincents", rated "11" (deleted) and "1/-" and showing, on reverse, a good strike of the very scarce straight-line "st. vincent"; the address panel a little soiled and the address rather feint. The contents of the letter, from a Sergeant, give details of their journey from Guernsey, which they left on 8th April aboard the Tartar, entering the River Demerara where it was intended to land on Dutch territory, and then onto St. Vincent where the French were burning the plantations with the help of the Caribs.
