The Beret of a Royal Tank Regiment VC Winner A black beret (maker's name illegible) with General Officer's embroidered badge; a group of RTR and General's buttons; and a signed letter dated 1977 from the original owner, Major General HRB Foote VC, to the current vendor, explaining that he wore this beret when commanding 11th Armoured Division in Germany (Lot) Estimate £ 200-300 Note: Lieutenant Colonel Foote won his Victoria Cross in North Africa. In June 1942, while commanding 7th Royal Tank Regiment, he displayed outstanding courage and leadership, on one occasion leading the regiment on the outside of a tank, and on another by walking from tank to tank under heavy fire, encouraging the crews. An RTR beret belonging to General Foote was sold at Spink in May 1998 and realised £520.
