A Dunkirk VC Winner's Service Dress Uniform A khaki Service Dress tunic, with brass buttons and fine silver-plated collar badges of the East Lancashire Regiment, rank-badges of a Lieutenant-Colonel, medal ribbons including that of the VC, and lanyard; the inside bearing tailor's label named to H.M. Ervine-Andrews; and a letter from Colonel Ervine-Andrews to the current vendor, enclosing signed photographs and other documents (lot) Estimate £ 300-450 Note: On the 31st May 1940, Captain Ervine-Andrews's company came under attack near Dunkirk. He immediately led a group of volunteers on to the roof of a nearby barn, from which they engaged the enemy, causing severe losses. When the barn had been set alight, Captain Ervine-Andrews supervised the withdrawal of his remaining men with considerable skill.
