A Memento of a Gurkha VC Winner A signed photograph of Subadar Ganju Lama VC; a tie-pin in the form of a miniature brass kukri; and a letter dated 1986 from the Subadar to the current vendor, in its original envelope bearing Indian stamps and postmarks (3) Estimate £ 30-40 Note: On the 12th June 1944, at Ninthoukhong, Burma, when his company of the 1st Battalion, 7th Gurkha Rifles were attempting to halt a Japanese advance, Rifleman Ganju Lama crawled to within 30 yards of a troop of enemy tanks and knocked out two of them with a Piat gun. Despite being seriously wounded, he went forward again to engage the tank crews, refusing medical attention until he had accounted for all of them.
