The Medal-Ribbons of a Canadian Passchendaele VC Winner Two ribbon-bars, one bearing ribbons of the VC (with miniature cross), DSO, MC and 1914 Star, the other with those of the Canadian Volunteer Services Medal (with Maple Leaf), 1935 Jubilee, 1937 Coronation and Croix de Guerre 1914-18 (with bronze star); a signed photograph of General George Randolph Pearkes VC CB DSO MC; and two manuscript letters from General Pearkes to the current vendor (lot) Estimate £ 60-80 Note: George R Pearkes, of the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion, The Quebec Regiment, won the Victoria Cross at Passchendaele in October 1917, when, despite being wounded in the thigh, he continued to lead his men in an assault. Having captured his objective, his determination and example enabled his unit to hold it against repeated counter-attacks.
