A Memento of a Falklands War VC Winner A maroon and light-blue Parachute Regiment lanyard originally owned by Sergeant Ian McKay VC; a letter dated November 1982 to the current vendor from Sergeant McKay's widow, explaining that her husband wore this lanyard at the Parachute Regiment depot until about six weeks before his departure for the Falklands; and a newspaper cutting dated 1992 about his death ten years previously (3) Estimate £ 80-120 Note: On Mount Longdon, on 12th June 1982, Sergeant McKay took charge of his platoon when they were pinned down by enemy fire and the platoon commander had become a casualty. By charging the enemy position single-handed, he enabled his comrades to extricate themselves from a very dangerous situation.
