Mementoes of the Eighth Club A Yale-type key with ornate cast and chased head in white metal, engraved on one side THIS KEY WAS USED BY Lt GEN SIR NEIL RITCHIE KBE, CB, DSO, MC AT THE OPENING OF THE EIGHTH CLUB 21st SEP 1946 (sic); a hard-back booklet printed in 1966 to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the Eighth Club at 5 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh, giving details of the history of the Club and list of members; a photograph (which also appears in the booklet) of General Ritchie opening the Club on 21st September 1945; and two manuscript letters from the General to the current vendor (lot) Estimate £ 20-30 Note: The Eighth Club was founded by former members of the 8th Battalion City of Edinburgh Home Guard to keep the old spirit of comradeship and co-operation alive during times of peace.
