Austria. A First Lieutenant's early 20th-century Imperial Austrian 4th Uhlan Regiment Full Dress 'Czapka'. Black leather skull and peak, profusely decorated with gold wire and bullion threads, helmet plate bearing the numeral '4', chinstrap and lion bosses gilded metal, white cloth upper with tilted square top, black horsehair plume and gilded metal cap 'lines', interior leather lining and white silk, the latter with a gilded manufacturer's stamp for Moritz Tiller, Wien, some slight evidence of moth and pest damage, bullion wire somewhat dulled with age, otherwise Good Very Fine and a most attractive, complete example.
