A PAIR OF GILT COPPER LOCKET COVERS
German, likely Augsburg (circle of Paul Hübner?), late 16th-early 17th Century.
85 x 105.2mm; 85.5 x 108.5mm. In a pastoral scene, Apollo standing facing, head left, plays his harp, while Marsyas the satyr seated at right, holding his panpipes, listens, tree at left, ornate "S" border around. In a field before a town, a nude woman standing facing, head left, holds an arrow, a naked, bearded man clasps her shoulder, while cupid tugs on a wisp of drapery on her thigh, terraced trees upper left, armor strewn on ground, ornate "S" border around. The latter with broken edge, some casting flaws. Very Fine old casts.
