The Mocking of Christ. Rectangular plaquette. Bronze, 76 x 99mm. Christ, a crown of thorns on his head and holding a staff, seated left being flogged by Roman soldiers; two others kneel and one bows mockingly before him, dog lower right. From a series of sixteen plaquettes illustrating the life of Christ and cast from a silver relief, as evidenced by the marks of Augsburg and M. Walbaum visible bottom center. A Very Fine old cast.
