1948-1949 Collier Trophy Awards. Trio of Letters. 1) One page, typed on Parks Aircraft letterhead, Oct. 26, 1949, signed by Oliver L. Parks, President. Parks tells Committee Chairman Leverone approves the 1948 citation to Brig. Gen. Milton W. Arnold, Col. Duckworth and Capt. A.S Borne for development of an air traffic control system; 2) One page, typed on Undersecretary of the Navy letterhead, Oct. 31, 1949, signed by Dan A. Kimball. Kimball tells Leverone he thinks the R.T.C.A. should be the recipient of the 1948 award, but it is extremely vital that General Arnold be mentioned as one of the individuals in the citation; One page, typed on Air Transport Association of America letterhead, Oct. 31, 1949, signed by E.S. Land, President. Land tells Leverone he "will continue to state that on general principles I am opposed to making the Collier trophy Award to an inanimate object". Fine. [3]
