Mayo accepting invitation to serve on the Committee; 3) One page, May 15, 1938 signed by Harlan D. Fowler proposing the application of Fowler flaps to Lockheed transportation for the 1938 Collier; 4) One page, hand-written, Grand Hotel de Pékin, Pékin (China) letterhead, Kalgan, North China, May 14, 1938; W. B. Courtney expresses his appreciation for being invited to serve on the Committee; 5) One page, May 19, signed by Henry B. Du Pont advising he will be at Committee meeting; 6) Three pages, May 24, on Engineering and Research Corp. letterhead, signed by Henry A. Berliner submitting the "name and work of Mr. Fred E. Weick" for consideration as awardee; 7) One page, June 6, on American Airlines letterhead, signed by C.R. Smith, President regarding American being represented at Committee meeting; 8) One page, June 17, on War Dept. letterhead, signed by Maj. Gen. O. Westover, Air Corps regarding pressure cabin development; 9) One page, Sept. 3, 1938, on War Dept. letterhead, signed by Secretary of War Harry H. Woodring regarding NAA letter with information of 1937 award being made to the Army Air Corps; 10) One page, Sept. 7, on U.S. Steel Corp. letterhead, signed by E.R. Stettinius, Jr. (later Secretary of State 1944-1945) regretting not being able to be at Hyde Park for the presentation of the Collier Trophy; 11) One page, War Dept. letterhead, Sept. 27, signed by Lt. Col. Ira C. Eaker, Air Corps who notes that the citation for the Collier Trophy is "entirely correct in every regard" and asks about the date for the Mackay Trophy. Fine. [11]
