1938 Collier Trophy Award. Three typed letters regarding an earlier letter from James H. Doolittle: 1) One page, May 11, 1939, on War Dept. letterhead signed by acting Secretary of War Louis Johnson tells Doolittle that the Air Corps will be sending him recommendations; 2) One page, May 13, on Civil Aeronautics Authority, written to William Enyart, NAA, signed by Chairman Robert H. Hinckley who refers to Doolittle's May 4th letter and appreciates being asked for suggestions; 3) One page, June 1, on Civil Aeronautics Authority, signed by Clinton M. Hester responding to Doolittle's letter and discussing the Authority's neutrality as far as nominations are concerned. Fine. [3]
