1930 Collier Trophy Award. 1) Letter from New York, Philadelphia and Washington Airway Corporation applying for the 1930 award. Two and one-half pages typed on company letterhead, Feb. 16, 1931. "Secretarial" signatures below for Gene Vidal, Executive Vice President, Paul Collins, Vice President Operations and Amelia Earhart, Vice President-PR. The secretaries did little to emulate the actual autograph of the named; 2) Letter signed by Jerome Clarke Hunsaker as President of Goodyear-Zeppelin bringing the Committee's attention to 1930 record of Goodyear-Zeppelin. One page, typed on company letterhead, Feb. 16, 1931; 3) Letter signed by Albert F. Zahm, Chief, Division of Aeronautics to Senator Bingham suggesting that the "Pitcairn people be invited to demonstrate the autogiro in some popular way, as a part of the day's program when they receive the Collier trophy." One page, typed on Library of Congress, Division of Aeronautics letterhead, April 9, 1931; and 4) Note signed by Harold F. Pitcairn to Senator Bingham regretting that he didn't get to see Bingham "yesterday before I left for Philadelphia." One page, typed on Autogiro Company of America letterhead, April 23, 1931, with copy of Bingham's response. Fine; (5) Letter signed by Harold F. Pitcairn. One page typed on his letterhead, Jan. 5, 1945. Pitcairn thanks the Committee for sending him the certificate of his 1930 award, and regrets missing the recent award ceremony because of illness.
