1922 Collier Trophy Award. Pair of Letters from competitors. One-page, typed from aircraft and helicopter pioneer Henry Berliner, on Emile Berliner Laboratory letterhead, Washington, D.C. Dec. 21, 1922. Berliner notes he has received the Collier Committee letter inviting him to compete for the Trophy and promises to file his claims by January 1, and talks about preparing a demonstration of "our machine". He signs in black below. Top binder punches; Three-page, typed from aviation pioneer Frank Henry Russell, on Curtiss Aeroplane & Motor Corp. letterhead, Dec. 29, 1922. Russell recommends the Army Curtiss Racer, winner of the 1922 Pulitzer Race, for consideration for the Collier Trophy, extols its virtues and gives its particulars. He signs below as Vice-President of Curtiss. Staplehole and some edge nicks. Fine. [2]
