1922 Collier Trophy Award: Pair of Letters. One-page, typed from the Collier Trophy Committee to the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), Washington, D.C. Jan. 25, 1923. The Committee advises that it is unanimous in recommending that the 1922 award should go to the personnel of the Air Mail Service and explains why. Committee members sign below: Frank P. Lahm - the "nation's first military aviator", early aviation pioneer and NAA vice-president Porter H. Adams, early aviation pioneer and engineer B. Russell Shaw, and chairman G.W. Lewis - all in black ink. Light smudge on Lewis' signature, small nicks right edge. Fine; One-page typed on Office of the Postmaster General, Washington, D.C., Jan. 31, 1923. Postmaster General Hubert Work expresses his delight and grateful appreciation to Frank Lahm and the NAA for the bestowment of the Collier Trophy on the personnel of the US Air Mail Service.
