1930 Collier Trophy Award: Letter from Awardee Harold F. Pitcairn to NAA President Hiram Bingham. One-page typed on Autogiro Company of America letterhead, Philadelphia, April 7, 1931. Pitcairn, aviation pioneer and Autogiro Company president, thanks Bingham for his letter and expresses the gratitude of himself and his associates for the award (which they won for the development and application of the autogiro). "Obviously, our own faith in the Autogiro is unbounded, but we fully realize that this important public recognition by the National Aeronautic Association will strengthen the faith of many who are not in such close touch with our work." Pitcairn signed in black below. A few small nicks in right margin, small fold tear and crease and rumple of top left corner, otherwise Very Good; accompanied by Newspaper clips: April 6, 1931 - on Pitcairn and associates' winning of the award; and April 23, 1931 - on an autogiro landing at the White House.
