Jean-de-Dieu Soult (French general and statesman, Marshal of the Empire) (1769-1851) - République Francaise Armée du Danube "Avant Garde" letter, with text in secretarial hand, signed SOULT, dated 21 Floréal an 7 de la Republique Francaise (10 May 1799 using the Gregorian calendar), to General Ernouf (Jean Augustin Ernouf), sent during the period when the French Army was engaged in skirmishes on the eastern part of the Swiss Plateau, two weeks prior to the Battle of Winterthur, a defeat for Marshal Ney. Light filing folds, a very fine letter from the Revolutionary Wars.
