                        Truman, Harry S. Thirty-third President of the United States, served as vice president under FDR and succeeded him on the latter's death; implemented the Marshall Plan, established the Truman Doctrine and NATO. Document Signed "Harry S Truman" as President. 7 x 8 7/8" typed letter on White House stationery, Oct. 5, 1945. Writing to Senator McFarland, Truman notes he is enclosing a copy of a letter which he sent to the "Fairfield Daily Ledger", Fairfield Iowa. Truman signs below in black. Attached to copy of the aforementioned letter which remembers the interview of Truman by Mr. Sherlock (editor of the newspaper) in 1926.
